San Bernardino County reports 356 new coronavirus cases, 6 new deaths Thursday

San Bernardino County reported 356 new cases of coronavirus and 6 additional virus-related deaths Thursday. The county now has a total of 46,407 cases and 715 virus related deaths.

San Bernardino County is reporting the fourth-highest number of coronavirus cases after Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange counties.

San Bernardino County's positivity rate is 13.2%, still high enough to be on the state's monitoring list. Riverside and Los Angeles counties also remain on the list.

A county must be off the watch list for 15 days before all schools can reopen. The decision to reopen schools would still be left to individual districts.

As of Wednesday's daily update, 350,271 tests have been conducted in San Bernardino County, including 2,234 new tests in the past 24 hours. The county has a target of 3,288 tests per day, and it launched a new billboard campaign last week urging people to get tested.

About 53% of cases in the county are under the age of 40. The cases, broken down by age bracket, are as follows:

• 3,006 (6.5%) cases are among people ages 0 to 14
• 2,369 (5%) cases are among people ages 15-19
• 10,551 (22.7%) cases are among people ages 20-29
• 8,790 (19%) cases are among people ages 30-39
• 7,648 (16.5%) cases are among people ages 40-49
• 6,768 (14.6%) cases are among people ages 50-59
• 4,073 (8.8%) cases are among people ages 60-69
• 3,163 (6.8%) cases are among people older than 70
• The ages for 38 cases (0.1%) are unknown.

About 80% of deaths in the county are over the age of 60. The deaths, broken down by age bracket, are as follows:

• 0 (0%) deaths are among people ages 0 to 14
• 0 (0%) deaths are among people ages 15-19
• 3 (0.4%) deaths are among people ages 20-29
• 23 (3%) deaths are among people ages 30-39
• 37 (5%) deaths are among people ages 40-49
• 86 (12%) deaths are among people ages 50-59
• 140 (20%) deaths are among people ages 60-69
• 426 (59.6%) deaths are among people older than 70

The county has not updated hospitalization numbers since Monday, when 37.5% of its intensive care unit beds were still available and a total of 109 coronavirus patients were hospitalized in intensive care units within the county. At that time, 335 total coronavirus patients were hospitalized.

The county says 39,032 people have recovered, which is about 84% of its overall number of cases.
