
A wildfire broke out Thursday on the west end of Perris, scorching 10 acres in 30 minutes and threatening several homes as firefighters were deployed to contain it.
The non-injury Navajo fire was reported about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Navajo Road and Highway 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
More than a dozen engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a rapid rate to the east, approaching properties along Park Avenue. Crews immediately established protective lines to prevent the fire from reaching the residences.

As of 5:15 p.m., the blaze was 10% contained and slowing down, according to reports from the scene.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department evacuated several homes along Park Avenue, but those evacuations have been lifted, according to tweets from Cal Fire.
There was no word on what might have sparked the brusher.
